Workshop Birth of Movement

March 12th, 13th & 14th
at  Brick-One, Sendagi, Tokyo
clik here for the flyer (in Japansese)

When we are in movement or in stillness, how are we dealing with the content of our senses? Our body is the subject and at the same time the object of the senses – It sounds complicated, but doesn’t the body by its nature live on such paradoxes and occupy a place in space?

In its daily mode the body senses its inner and outer environments, which is in flux. It participates in the new phases that are constantly being opened, by which it opens still new phases. When we consider the body as a material as such, what kind of potentials does it have in art?

The workshop provides plug-ins for us to go through self-directed processes over the above subject, along with movement research, development of improvisation scores and the exchanges of questions and observations between the participants. The plug-ins take sources in the approaches in body-mind centering, contemporary dance techniques, yoga and instant composition among others.

Anyone who is interested in dealing with the body in creative processes is welcome in the class.
